JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for
developing and maintaining state legislature and county government relationships
that are impacted by CMC’s operations across the state. Works under the
direction of Assistant VP & Chief Operating Officer for UTMB CMC, also work
peripherally with UTMB’s Associate VP for Legislative Affairs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Contributes to the success of Correctional
Managed Care.

Design, maintain and distribute a targeted
UTMB CMC informational program, by State Legislative District, and/or
County. Specific to those districts and counties where UTMB CMC maintains
an operational impact.

Works with CMC leadership and the Associate
VP for legislative Affairs to establish and maintain State and County points
of contact critical for the continued advancement of the UTMB CMC program.

Assist in building relationships with key
Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and Texas Youth Commission (TYC)
leaders, working to ensure that UTMB CMC remains a cohesive partner with
TDCJ and TYC in all legislative matters.

Assist in building relationships with key
County officials in the areas where UTMB CMC has a significant operational
interest.

During the State Legislative
Session, works in cooperation with UTMB’s Associate Vice President for
Legislative Affairs on any UTMB related matter as directed by the
University. Adheres to
internal controls and reporting structure.
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science,
Government or Business Administration.

Minimum of two years experience working on
State Representative, State Senator or the Legislative Budget Board staff.
EQUIPMENT:
Standard office equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory and/or office environments. May be
exposed to occupational hazards such as communicable diseases, harmful
chemicals, and/or disoriented or combative patients.
OTHER:
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to
this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby
subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
