JOB SUMMARY:
To provide legal secretarial and clerical
support to the Attorneys and Legal Assistants within the Department of Legal
Affairs.
MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

Drafts contracts and other documents for
review by attorneys.

Proofreads completed contracts for accuracy
and compliance with the requirements of the Office of General Counsel and
University.

Gathers and compiles Public Information Act
responses, subpoena responses and Appeal Hearing documents.

Acts as department liaison with UTMB
Administration, UT System’s Office of General Counsel, Office of the Attorney
General and outside organizations.

Maintains and organizes contract and
confidential litigation files.

Opens and closes legal case files.
-
Makes travel arrangements for attorneys.
-
Answers and screens telephone calls.
-
Orders, distributes, and takes inventory of
office supplies and legal publications.

Coordinates and maintains appointment,
deadline and docket calendars for Attorneys.

Processes invoices for payment.
-
Assists in maintaining the law library.
-
Handles administrative needs of the department
for daily operations.

Adheres to internal controls established for
department.

Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
High school graduation or equivalent and four years of related experience. Must
pass typing test at a net rate of 40 wpm and pass spelling test with 85%
accuracy.

Standard office equipment.

Standard office environment.
