JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting with fund-raising programs designed to secure major gifts from individuals, alumni, foundations and/or corporations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: § Responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of lead annual gifts for the unit (donations of $5,000 to $25,000 and above; that are either one-time or pledged over 3-5 years and may be comprised of a combination of cash, planned or deferred gifts, property, securities, insurance or in-kind). § Develops objectives with emphasis on securing major gifts from individuals, alumni, foundations, and/or corporations. Plans are reviewed monthly with his/her supervisor. § Responsible for a minimum of 20 face-to-face visits per month. § Manages a portfolio of some 100 - 150 major gift prospective contributors and develops written strategies for the top 20. § May be assigned to university wide projects, other geographic regions, and/or special departmental fund raising projects. § Participates as a member of the development team in the Office of Development (attend meetings, participate in prospect and proposal management, etc.) Assists other Development team members as needed in securing gifts for the University. § Assists with planning and coordinating visits and social events designed to acquaint prospective major gift donors with other donors, key UTMB officials, faculty and program priorities. § May be called upon to assist with establishing, recruiting, training, organizing, coordinating, and maintaining a network of key volunteers to serve as contacts and liaisons with prospective major gift donors in coordination with the Senior Director of Development. § Represents the school in community activities as assigned. § Attends workshops and seminars to increase knowledge of the unit’s programs and activities and to further the skills associated with the advancement effort. § Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Associates degree or equivalent and three years of related experience.
EQUIPMENT: Standard office equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION: Standard office environment.
