JOB SUMMARY:
Administers, coordinates and organizes administrative activities related to the
work-up, non-invasive biopsy and subsequent diagnosis of breast lesions detected
by screen and/or diagnostic mammograms.
MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

Responsible for the tracking and collection of
mammography reports and follow-up procedures with pathology results for each
radiologist.

Consults with physicians, records radiologist
findings and retrieves subsequent pathology reports.

Provides administrative support to Section
Chief Radiologist.

Participates in Task Force meetings to improve
Quality Control issues.

Assists physicians and staff with computer
problems related to mammogram interpretation.

Assists patients with problems or issues
related to mammogram results: provides accurate and appropriate information.

Utilizes computer databases and various
software packages to document information related to mammogram readings:
generates monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports as required.

Codes all ultrasound and mammographic-guided
pre-operative needle localizations, galactograms, and stereotactic procedures.

Assures that all scheduling requirements are
met within the division or other departments, if necessary.

Prepares and organizes mammography conferences
for faculty as needed.

Provides assistance to patients, departmental
employees, UTMB employees and faculty as required.

Performs routine mammography film screen
examinations as needed to maintain certification.

Responsible for annual inspection by State and
Federal governing bodies.

Performs quality control testing on
mammographic and stereotactic equipment, documentation and corrective action
as required by TDH, MQAS, and ACR.

Submits annual updates and re-accreditation
packages on mammography and stereotactic equipment.

Assists in the supervision of departmental
personnel.

Responsible for maintenance and corrective
action of mammography x-ray units.

Adheres to internal controls and reporting
structure.

Performs related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Associates Degree with graduation from an AMA-approved School of Radiologic
Technology. Requires four years of experience in mammography and quality
control. Must be registered in radiography by the American Registry of
Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Also, must be Certified by the Texas
Department of Health; with successful completion of FDA acceptable 40-hour
course specific to mammography. Must be Registered in Mammography and Certified
in Quality Management.
EQUIPMENT:
All equipment utilized in the field of radiology.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Standard office and hospital environment.
