Job Summary:
To perform managerial functions for the department and perform complex professional accounting functions requiring applications of advanced Medicare and Medicaid accounting knowledge and OMB A - 21 regulations.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:
- Prepares major worksheets to support the Medicare and Medicaid Cost Report and Indirect Overhead Report.
- Analyzes data for compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
- Reviews tentative and final cost report settlements from the intermediary for accuracy.
- Maintains knowledge on the most current regulations by reading the Federal Register and materials that relate to the Cost Report and Indirect Report regulations.
- Performs managerial duties in support of the department, such as:
- Assists in the planning and budgeting of the department.
- Interviews and hires employees.
- Responsible for verification of employee's time in the ETC system and that all leave forms have been filled out properly.
- Provides technical support to Accountants, Accounting Clerks and Senior Secretary.
- Assists the Associate Director in conducting time studies for the Cost Report.
- Assists the Associate Director in preparing the wage index report for the Cost
Report.
- Works closely with external auditors supplying data audits.
- Assistance to the director is provided as needed for completing special projects, informational surveys, and ad hoc reports.
- Interfaces with departmental/administrative heads in obtaining and analyzing cost data.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting from a major university. Five years experience in Medicare and Medicaid regulations.

Other:
Required to work evenings and weekends in addition to regular schedule during Medicare Cost Report period if necessary to meet federal filing deadlines.
