Job Summary:
To act as the specialist in payroll disciplines in order to
ensure that payroll is generated timely and accurately while providing
professional customer service and to assist Payroll Leadership.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:
- Duties related to
Payroll Disciplines
- Maintains expertise in
one or more of the following payroll disciplines:
- Payroll Taxes
- Time and Attendance
Regulations and Policies
- Personnel
Transactions Processing
- Payroll Processing
- Payroll Reporting
- Payroll Disbursements
(3rd party payment processing)
- Payroll Benefits
- System Maintenance
- Project Management
- Serves as a resource
for payroll staff members that have questions regarding payroll compliance,
policy issues, and system uses.
- Maintains tables and
enhances current systems.
- Analyzes difficult
transactions to bring resolution to problems.
- Uses independent
judgment in leading major projects/implementations.
- Acts as liaison with IS
programmers.
- Leads process
improvement projects.
- Completes research and
implements change as needed to ensure payroll compliance with federal, state,
and UTMB regulations, guidelines and policies.
- Aids in payroll
reporting responsibilities as necessary.
- Adheres to internal
controls established for department.
- Performs related duties
as assigned.
Required Education / Experience:
Associate’s degree in accounting, business, or equivalent
experience and four years of related work experience in payroll, accounting,
and/or business.Equipment:
Standard office equipment. Working Environment:
Standard hospital, clinical and/or office environments. Other:
