Job Summary:
To assist Payroll Leadership and to act as the lead
specialist in payroll disciplines to ensure payroll is generated timely and
accurately; to assist in completion of reporting needs and the completion of
systems maintenance, changes, and implementations.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:
- Payroll Duties related
to Payroll Disciplines
- Maintains expertise in one or more of the following
payroll disciplines:
- Payroll Taxes
- Time and Attendance Regulations and Policies
- Personnel Transactions Processing
- Payroll Processing
- Payroll Reporting
- Payroll Disbursements (3rd party payment processing)
- Payroll Benefits
- System Maintenance
- Project Management
- Serves as a resource for payroll staff members that
have questions regarding payroll compliance, policy issues, and system use.
- Maintains tables and enhances current systems.
- Analyzes difficult transactions and problem solving.
- Completes education and training of staff, departmental
customers, and institutional partners.
- Uses independent judgment in leading major
projects/implementations.
- Acts as liaison with IS programmers.
- Leads process improvement and new system implementation
projects.
- Completes research and implement change as needed to
ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and UTMB regulations,
guidelines and policies.
- Adheres to internal controls established for
department.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or equivalent
experience and five years of related work experience in payroll, accounting,
and/or business.Equipment:
