Job Summary:
To manage the activities of the Finance – Payroll Services staff.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:
- Facilitates work group leaders to assure that continuous process improvement occurs (identify system needs, develop solutions for problems, and help others complete process mapping, etc.)
- Actively pursue knowledge and develop procedures and training to assure compliance with all federal, state, and UTMB policies, regulations, and guidelines.
- Facilitates work group leaders to provide framework for completing operating procedures and training to assure compliance with all federal, state, and UTMB policies, regulations, and guidelines.
- Facilitates meetings and programs as needed.
- Partners with leadership to complete rewards and recognition, communication and information, training and development activities.
- Manages workgroup resources (human and financial) and participate in staffing decisions.
- Initiates projects or activities that encourage collaboration within work group, department, or / and institutional partners.
- Facilitates work group leader initiatives.
- Identifies needs and provides direction for communications to campus.
- Facilitates collaborative decision making within and across work group.
- Provides coaching and mentoring to supporting roles.
- Participates in developing system enhancement specifications.
- Directs and participates in the identification, development, and presentation of systems training as needed by campus users and the work group.
- Assists with facilitation of initiatives and system improvements to aid work group with
outcomes, planning budget, operating budget, personnel transaction processing, payrolls, and all records maintained, fiscal and calendar year end processes.
- Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.
- Accountable for tasks and functions of all work groups within division.
- Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelors degree or equivalent in related field and 5 years related experience.
