Job Summary:
To manage multiple audit projects and assist the Director in administrative matters to enable the Department to fulfill its mission which is outlined as follows in the UTMB Audit Services Charter: "Audit Services exists to provide the Chief Administrative Officer and the Audit Committee with an independent evaluation of the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control systems at UTMB."
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:
- Manages multiple audit and related projects to assure that professional standards are met and that Department resources are effectively and efficiently utilized.
- Improves the control environment at UTMB to ensure more effective and efficient accomplishment of the audit plan.
- Interacts with and builds good working relationships with UTMB management at both a senior and departmental level on an ongoing basis and through such activities as serving on institutional task forces, and with other University of Texas component institution’s internal audit departments.
- Participates in a management team which assists the Director in administrative areas such as planning and budget development, training and staff development, performance appraisal, compensation and employment decisions, recruitment and scheduling.
- Assists in the annual risk assessment process and in the development of annual and long-range audit plans for presentation to the Audit Committee.
- Assists in other administrative areas such as external audit liaison, quality assurance management, researching significant purchases, coordinating in-house training and orientation programs and fulfilling certain transaction approval functions on a back-up basis.
- Works on special projects at the request of the director.
- Adheres to internal controls established for department.
- Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and six years related experience. CPA, CISA or CIA Certification required.
