Job Summary:
To process personnel time and attendance transactions in order to generate
payrolls in a timely and accurate manner while providing professional customer
service for departmental timekeepers and managers.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:
Payroll Duties related to Payroll Disciplines
- Provides guidance to department customers and institutional partners
regarding Time and Attendance compliance.
- Provides guidance to Department Customers regarding personnel
transactions, appointments, salary increases and separations.
- Analyzes and prepares HRMS transactions (payments) to correct
errors/omissions in prior periods.
- Loads W-4, direct deposit, garnishments, parking, and other payroll
deductions, manual ACH transactions caused by certain adjustments.
- Loads check remittance distribution information (location data) and sort
checks for transfer to the Bursar’s office and CMC courier.
- Completes process to initiate retroactive transfers of expense as
requested by departments to clear suspense accounts.
- Works exception/error reports to identify and correct payments. Distribute
reports to other areas when necessary.
- Explains paycheck data to employees requesting clarification.
- Assists departments with future salary transactions during the budget
process. Acts as a liaison to ensure multiple position employees are
appropriately displayed in the budget. Works error reports to ensure correct
budget submission.
- Identifies positions and assists departments in managing aged
posted/non-posted positions.
- Loads supplemental payments (tuition reimbursement, non recurring merits,
incentive payments, SRA’s, lump sum faculty payments, various physician
payments, etc.).
- Adheres to internal controls established for department.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Required Education / Experience:
Associate’s degree in accounting, business, or equivalent
experience and two years of related work experience in payroll, accounting,
and/or business.Equipment:
