Job Summary:
To assist the Director of the Office of Clinical Trails in the development, management, and operation of the Office of Clinical Trials.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

Supervises the activities of the Clinical Trials Office, including hiring, promotions, evaluations, job descriptions, and establishing Department guidelines and goals.

Coordinates support service necessary for the function of the department and monitors the flow of clerical work.

Assists in the development of office procedures and interprets departmental policies.

Serves as liaison and administrative point of contact to clinical research investigators to assist in problem identification and resolution.

Monitors and assists in development of departmental budget and management of operational funds.

Acts as liaison with other departments, clinical trial research, industry and commercial sponsors, and outside agencies.

Monitors and is responsible for the interpretation and dissemination of UT System Office of General Counsel legal issues and policy concerning the implementation of clinical trials at UTMB.

Counsels clinical research investigators, department administrators, and study coordinators regarding the daily maintenance of clinical trial accounts.

Provides oversight and supervision for the accounting, reporting, and auditing of UTMB clinical trials ledger 4 accounts, including lock box reconciliation, project billing, accounts receivable, account deficits, expenditure compliance, inter-departmental personnel transfers, indirect reallocations, and account close out procedures. Serves as direct supervisor for all grants and contract staff.

Identifies appropriate internal controls for department. Provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.

Other duties as assigned by Director.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelor degree or equivalent in related field and five years experience in all pre-award and post-award issues of clinical trial research.
