Job Summary:

To provide the technical experience and high level decision making required to develop, coordinate, implement, modify, maintain, and advance complex and varied data communication network configurations.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

  • Directs the analysis, design, and performance of network connections/ configurations for the UTMB.
  • Conducts studies, consults with vendors, faculty, management and staff concerning projected enhancements to hardware and existing and new technology available; and presents cost-benefit recommendations to upper management.
  • Supervises the design and performance of networking services.
  • Performs consulting services to other components, institutions, and users relating to the feasibility and application of network technology and capabilities; assists departments, schools, etc. with their network/ communication configuration and problem resolution.
  • Assists in the planning and design of training for network personnel.
  • Directs and supervises network projects.
  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Required Education / Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field and four years related experience.

Equipment: 

Standard office equipment.

Working Environment:

Standard data processing installation environment.
