Job Summary:
To provide hardware/software support and the technical skills required to administer, design, modify and maintain a network configuration at the department/school level.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

Manages/monitors the design and structure of moderate to complex area network configuration.

Analyzes, designs and administers the performance of network connections/ configurations at the school or department level.

Performs cost-benefit analysis on various hardware/software upgrades, etc.

Manages the performance of six or more software packages from fairly simple to complex levels of sophistication.

Provides programming skills of various complexity, utilizing such languages as Assembler, C, Pascal, etc.

Oversees and/or performs the physical set-up of a network, assuring integrity of communication/connections.

Consults with vendors, faculty, staff, and management concerning projected enhancements to hardware/software and networking capabilities.

Performs complex problem determination and resolution identifying networking problems at the department/school level.

Assists management in developing reports and procedures to optimize the benefits of network capabilities.

Provides training to staff, faculty and management in the utilization of various software (i.e., data bases, spreadsheets, word processing, and statistical packages).

Adheres to internal controls established for department.

Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
Associate's degree or equivalent in related field and three years related experience.
Equipment:
Standard office equipment. Medium to large-sized area networks (i.e., LAN's,
WAN's).
Working Environment:
Standard computer services environment.
Other:
