JOB SUMMARY:
Provide quality, expedient customer service in regards to
employee’s total reward and compensation package. Facilitate and market highly
effective benefit enrollment programs, as well as foster and maintain strong
vendor relationships. Review administrative process(es) and make necessary
changes that capture productivity enhancements to support the Division and
UTMB’s mission of providing quality health care to our employees and community. Act in a lead role pertaining to faculty questions and problem solving issues. Coordinate/supervise staff. Accountable for Service Center front desk questions
and answers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for overseeing,
supervising and performing the processing and maintenance of insurance
records for employees, claims, retirees and retirement plan calculations and
annual audits of the plans. This includes detailed analysis and
calculations of retirement data for annual maximum exclusion allowances, in
depth counseling and advisement. Assist in the processing of disability and
Life/AD&D claims.

Responsible for developing,
overseeing and conducting various benefits related in-services and
presentations, which may include a portion of new employee orientation,
on-going training of benefit programs, plans and policies, and administering
the annual benefits fair.

Responsible for performing
quality reviews on notification of participants’ eligibility for
continuation of health benefits (COBRA). Be knowledgeable in all processes
and procedures in regards to benefits administration. Oversee the
department’s central filing system. Provide customer service support as well
as offer special assistance on projects and marketing initiatives.

Responsible for the
development and maintenance of department policies and procedures,
retirement and benefit interpretation. Work with Finance and Employee
Relations in maintaining Human Resources policy and procedure that relate to
benefits administration.

Increase employees’
understanding and participation in benefit programs as needed, and to
educate employees regarding the value of our mandatory and supplementary
retirement plans.

Initiate searches and
implement changes to enhance administration process, specifically
applications to reduce manual intervention. Plan, implement and communicate
special projects.

Act as Benefits liaison to
TDCJ.

Influence vendors to meet
desired outcomes.

Effectively utilize a
win-win approach when resolving employee issues. Be compassionate and
reassuring to employees when assisting with the aspects of life, sick leave
pool and disability claims.

Adheres to internal
controls and reporting structure.
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and two years related
experience.
EQUIPMENT:
Standard office equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:

Standard office
environment. This position requires a high
degree of visibility and interaction with executives and faculty, as well as
required travel and minimum physical demands.
