JOB SUMMARY:

To provide clinical assessment, referral, case management, counseling and education by phone or in person.  Creates and participates in mental health workshops and support groups. 

MAJOR DUTIES/CRITICAL TASKS:

  • Conducts short term counseling with clients, crisis interventions, conflict management, substance abuse/chemical dependency counseling, case management  and problem resolution. Makes referrals and writes assessments.
  • Consults with managers and supervisors concerning employee issues.
  • Designs and delivers related training programs.
  • Presents and teaches peers on counseling/psychology related topics.
  • Participates in committees where EAP expertise is utilized.
  • Develops services to increase program effectiveness and utilization.
  • Develops and provides input into policies regarding EAP issues.
  • Volunteers in community in area of expertise.
  • Develops and monitors projects and budgets.
  • Mentors team members.
  • Adheres to internal controls as established for department.
  • Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Masters degree in Behavioral Sciences related field plus LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker); or LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor). Texas licensure where applicable. 

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) certification; or LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor); or LMFT (Licensed Marriage Family Therapist); or CEAP (Certified Employee Assistance Professional) and one year in an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) setting. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & COMPETENCIES (KSACs):

·  Professional collegial relationships with area service providers

·  Strong knowledge of UTMB and UT System  policies and procedures

·  Strong knowledge of state and federal laws as they pertain to counseling

·  Ability to lead teams and committees

·  Self-directed/Flexible/Teamwork

·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·  Excellent organizational skills

·  Respected speaker/educator in the community 

EQUIPMENT:

Standard office equipment 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Standard office environment.

Rotating on call.

Flexible work schedule.
