Job Summary:

To provide ongoing case management of injured employees with focus on return to work; assists with return to work coordination and adherence to policy and maintaining an established rapport with UT System Adjusters, physicians and other personnel regarding worker’s compensation.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

  • Provides ergonomic assessment for employees of UTMB.
  • Manages and maintains regular contact with injured employees
  • Develops a realistic plan with the worker to facilitate a safe and timely return to work
  • Maintains contact with adjusters and physicians regarding employee status
  • Documents actions taken on claim files
  • Manages the Modified Duty Program and ensures adherence to established policy
  • Performs and completes ergonomic evaluations in a timely and scheduled manner.
  • Adheres to internal controls as established for department.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Required Education / Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy or related field and one year of experience in a worker’s compensation setting and one year of experience in ergonomics.

Equipment: 

Standard office equipment.

Working Environment:

Standard hospital, clinical and/or office environment.  Rotating 24 hour call.  Flexible work schedule.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
