Job Summary:
To coordinate and direct the activities involved with employee reported
injuries/illnesses & ensures compliance with established guidelines. Responsible
for processing employee claims in departmental software and the UT System
on-line Production System according to guidelines established by UT System and
the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:
- Records and maintains files for all reported on-the-job injuries/illnesses;
process and reports to WCI insurance carrier.
- Informs and educates employees, supervisors, and medical care providers of
their roles and responsibilities regarding reporting work injuries/illnesses.
- Responsible for screening injury reports for further evaluation, referrals or
documentation.
- Provides departments with analysis of injury data.
- Establishes and maintains employee claim files and establishes procedures for
the processing of employee injuries/illnesses.
- Provides ergonomic job-site evaluations and makes recommendations for
modifications.
- Provides medical case management to assist in early return to work for injured
employees.
- Reviews and follows-up with UT System, injured employees and their departments
concerning lost time claim status. Maintains status of outstanding TWCC 3 Forms
(Employer’s Wage Statement). Utilizes office software to furnish reports on a
daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual basis. Responsible for maintaining
ongoing tracking system of injured employees out on leave, and their status.
- Directs and oversees EDS (Office Requisitions, Travel, IDT’s and Check
Requests) and supervises support staff.
- Adheres to internal controls as established for department.
- Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 1 year of related experience.
Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies (KSACs):
- Knowledge of Texas Workers’ Compensation Rules and Requirements
- Proficiency with EDS, HRMS and ETC Systems.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Specialized software application skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Professional demeanor.
