JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting the director in the achievement of departmental goals, supervising and providing counseling and mental health services for students, including development and presentation of wellness programs.  This position works in a supportive manner as a resource for the department and as a representative for the director.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Participates in strategic planning for the department, counseling services and special projects as assigned.

  • Assists in operational management of student wellness.

  • Assists in personnel management for student wellness staff.

  • Provides counseling for students and their families.

  • Directs, develops, coordinates and implements counseling programs.

  • Collaborates in planning and development of wellness outreach programs to include preventive and psychoeducational programs.

  • Supervises counseling clinical staff and trainees on rotation in Student Wellness.

  • Coordinates peer review activities for counseling and mental health providers.

  • Maintains currency of counseling and mental health services by staying abreast of national trends.

  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.

 

MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs related duties as required.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Doctoral level preparation with 3 years clinical experience including university/college student counseling experience.  Licensed as a mental health professional in the state of Texas.

Two years of supervisory experience.

 

EQUIPMENT:

Standard office equipment.

 

 WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:

Standard office environments.
