Job Summary:

To oversee the pre-test, set-up, operation and maintenance of various audio-visual, videography equipment and systems.

Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

  • Provides guidance and mentoring in the professional development of individuals
  • Provides team support regarding technical expertise, problem resolution/troubleshooting, training, coaching, and team facilitation
  • Provides leadership and training to Audio-Visual Technicians and Senior Audio-Visual Technicians in the installation and repair of audio visual equipment.
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Instructs customers on the proper use of equipment
  • Ensures the delivery and set up audio visual equipment for programs and lectures including the regulation of lights and sound for proper presentation
  • Installs and repairs cable and satellite system, jacks and other necessary equipment and software in auditoriums/classrooms.
  • Designs/installs security systems
  • Provides estimates for design/install and repair of audio-visual systems.
  • Trouble shoots and provides minor repairs to audio visual and related equipment.
  • Oversees the planning/design/installation of audio-visual and systems and special effects lighting set-ups.
  • Oversees the operation of complex events and the maintenance of special facilities.
  • Operates cable TV and satellite system
  • Provides video editing and shooting as needed
  • Supports Information Services with teleconference events/services
  • Negotiates equipment prices for audio visual pool and auditoriums
  • Maintains inventory of supplies
  • Assists in the evaluation of hardware and software products
  • Stays current with applicable UTMB, State and Federal rules and regulations
  • Serves as a consultant to faculty and administration in the application of Educational Technology
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Required Education / Experience:

Associate’s degree or equivalent in digital media or related field and two years related experience

Equipment: 

Pre-test, set-up and operate the following equipment: 35mm slide projector, overhead projector, amplifier, microphones, public address system, probable podiums, audio/visual accessories liquid crystal projector (LCP) computer for projection purposes, custom lighting, document cameras, auditoriums systems, videography, cameras, editing and duplicating systems, VCR and monitor.

Highly technical multimedia environment
