Job Summary:
To assist in the supervision and in the participation of operating a large
telephone system.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:
- Assists in supervising and coordinating telecommunication activities on an
assigned shift.
- Provides non-routine information which requires a good working knowledge
of state and local rules and regulations.
- Informs supervisor of switchboard operational difficulties.
- Maintains records of incoming and outgoing long-distance and tieline
calls, noting duration and time of calls.
- Provides UTMB conference call service, documenting duration of calls for
billing purposes.
- Assists with training.
- Represents department in meetings / functions.
- Formats / updates departmental on-call schedules.
- Adheres to internal controls established for department.
- Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent and two years related experience.
Equipment:
Central switchboard console, Western Union Telex, Radio Page System, and
operator's headset.
Working Environment:
Standard office / telecommunications environment.
Other:
