Job Summary:
Provides technical guidance, provides advanced technical analysis and support
for maintenance, trouble shooting, and problem resolution of mainframe multiple
virtual storage (MVS) operations and other applications and systems. Provides
planning analysis and support for monitoring of workflow, methods and procedures
for mainframe, midrange and Intel based systems.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:
- Designs, analyzes and makes recommendations regarding existing and
proposed work flow, methods and procedures that assist operations, help desk,
systems and programming personnel to ensure efficiency and quality.
- Utilizes MVS/JCL, CICS commands and IBM utility software to provide
problem solving and support for production jobs and re-run/re-start setups.
- Supports and helps maintain production job scheduling system. Monitors
unrelated systems for synchronization of batch processing.
- Assists Technical Services in maintenance mainframe, midrange, and Intel
based systems.
- Reviews requested production changes with applications support, computer
operations and technical services prior to their implementation in order to
check their adherence to standards and their operational efficiencies.
- Monitors and scans TLMS (Tape Library Management System) and/or system
catalog for possible code reduction including GDG indexes, procs, JCL,
userparms and restarts.
- Integrates automation tools with Roscoe, MVS/TSO, CICS console command
line text and VTAM.
- Proactively manages the forward migration of tape to disk as defined by
shop standards and updates forward migration tape documentation.
- Develops documentation and organizes training.
- Participates as team member.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
- Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field and 2 years related experience.
