JOB SUMMARY:
Provides general support for human resource-related operations in assigned area.
Communicates and provides guidance on human resource services, initiatives, and
programs to customers. Conducts daily activities in Human Resources specialty.
ESSENTIAL JOB
FUNCTIONS:
Organizational
Development
- Provides advice and
guidance to customers regarding development-related issues.
- Assesses customer
training and/or development needs and meets need by delivering training or
identifying appropriate resource.
- Conducts standard
presentations/training classes
- Assists in developing
and conducting team building and facilitated retreats/meetings
- Assists in process
redesign and mapping.
- Monitors and evaluates
training/consulting outcomes.
- Provides basic data
analysis of developmental initiatives and outcomes.
Compensation
- Studies and analyzes
classified positions and creates job descriptions.
- Evaluates jobs using Hay
Guide Chart methodology.
- Participates in salary
surveys
- Provides basic data
analysis related to market and/or internal equity.
- Provides support to
department consultants regarding compensation initiatives.
- Provides support on
compensation issues and special projects.
- Assists in the
development and implementation of compensation programs.
Employee Relations
- Provides support to
department managers to ensure uniform and equitable application of
organization policies and procedures and recommends appropriate actions.
- Provides support to
department consultants regarding employee relations issues
- Provides support on RIFs.
Staff Recruiters
- Performs searches for
classified positions.
- Participates in and
coordinates recruitment activities for assigned departments.
- Coordinates with
Department Consultants to ensure a smooth recruitment and hiring process.
- Coordinates with
Department Consultants and customers to ensure clear knowledge of specific
position information need to identify qualified applicants.
- Sources, networks, cold
calls and screens applicants to determine most qualified and refer to
department.
- Assists customers with
developing interview questions, conducting interviews, checking references and
making offers.
- Ensures unselected
candidates are notified and selected candidate is moved into the new hire
process.
- Assures applicant
tracking and other systems are maintained.
- Provides career
counseling and transfer assistance to UTMB employees.
- Coordinates and
participates in job fairs.
- Ensures compliance with
legal requirements regarding recruitment activities.
- Coordinates with
Department Consultants, Compensation and Employee Relations regarding special
issues as necessary.
- Coordinates relocation
arrangements, including housing, tours & schedules.
- Provides employment
search assistance to trailing spouses.
- Surveys customers
regarding level of satisfaction with the recruitment process.
Department Consultants
- Provides advice,
guidance and technical support to assigned departments
- Supports customer needs
regarding compensation, recruitment, legislative, and legal trends.
- Investigates, evaluates
and makes recommendations regarding HR issues.
- Facilitates department
usage of the Performance Management Program.
- Participates in the
development of career ladders, including job design, job evaluation and
compensation.
- Conducts job evaluations
utilizing Hay Guide Charts to evaluate existing and new jobs.
- Obtains and analyzes
market data to determine internal equity and market competitiveness.
- Works with Compensation
regarding the creation of new positions and the evaluation of multiple
positions in a job family.
- Provides guidance to
customers regarding employee discipline issues.
- Provides support to
Employee Relations in the coordinate RIFs.
- Proactively responds to
customer requests in a timely manner.

- Developing HR
professional
- Basic knowledge of Human
Resources and employment law
- Developing partnership
and general understanding of the customer’s business and current issues

skills, both oral and written

- Moderate analytical and
problem solving skills
- Moderately competent use
of personal computers and general office applications, including Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook electronic mail

in developing leadership and supervision skills
- Ability to multi-task
and prioritize work
REQUIRED
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in a
related field or equivalent experience.
EQUIPMENT:
Standard office equipment
WORKING
ENVIRONMENT:
Office
environment, campus meeting rooms. Requires ability to move between buildings
across campus.
