Job Summary:
Designs and implements security procedures, and controls necessary resources to
ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of UTMB mission critical
information resources. Provides high-level support for the intuitional
information security program.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:
- Assists Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in determining strategic data
and information security requirements.
- Develops necessary project plans and supports the implementation of approved
projects
- Provide technical support for data confidentiality protection, system integrity,
system reliability, audit and system recovery methods and procedures.
- Investigates unauthorized access, modification, disclosure, or destruction and
develops controls to prevent such occurrences.
- Provides technical support for selection, configuration, and maintenance of
security software, utilities, and hardware; as well as the remediation of known
vulnerabilities.
- Provide technical expertise in security architect and design.
- Develops technical security standards to support policies and practice
standards, assists and creates monitoring standards, and incident investigation
procedures.
- Identifies and resolves security vulnerabilities, operational issues, audit
concerns with existing applications, hardware implementations, and legacy
systems.
- Supports the development and implementation of security awareness training
programs.
- Leads, coaches, and mentors staff to assist in their growth and professional
development.
- Supports investigations relating to theft of information resources, abuse of
computer systems and violation of the UTMB Information Security policy and/or
any other privacy policies.
- Monitors computer resources for evidence of compromise, responds to and reports
security incidents and conducts trend analysis.
- Participates as a team member.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structures.
- Performs related duties as required.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 4 years IT Security related experience.
Equipment:
Various computer systems and related equipment. Working Environment:
Standard hospital, clinical and/or office environment.
Other:
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to
this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby
subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
Any
qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimums
require the prior approval of the Chief Human Resources Officer.
