Emotional Intelligence for Faculty

Emotional intelligence is a measure of how successful you are at interacting with others.  It measures how well you are able to manage your own emotions, especially during times of stress, and how well you are able to help others manage their emotions.

ODT&R is now offering EQ courses designed for UTMB Faculty members.

Cost:  $200

The course is presented in 4 different sessions covering:

Emotional Intelligence Overview   

·       Learn what Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is and why it’s so important to your career success.

·       Learn the basic, yet essential, EQ building blocks

Gaining Self-Awareness and Learning to Assert Appropriately 

·       Identify common blocks/barriers to emotional self-awareness

·       Distinguish between assertive behavior and non-productive responses.

Using Impulse Control to Enhance Stress Tolerance

·       Define stress and look at ways to better tolerate our stress.

·       Understand and learn how to prevent or minimize “emotional hijacks”

Interpersonal Relationships and Happiness

·       Learn the value interpersonal relationships have in career success

·       Gain insight on other EQ components and their effect on overall happiness

The Office of Personnel Management offers a similar course for: $2900.00 The American Management Institute's EQ class fee is: $1895.00
