Benefits Annual Enrollment

2026–2027 Plan Year

The annual enrollment period for the 2026–2027 plan year opens Wednesday, July 15, and closes Friday, July 31. During this time, you can make changes to your benefits elections, add or remove dependents, and enroll in a flexible spending account. See below for key annual enrollment dates.

  • Wednesday, July 15 – Annual Enrollment Begins

    Employees

    • Review annual enrollment resources and current benefits elections.
    • Log in to the My UT Benefits portal for employees by identifying UTMB as your institution and entering your UTMB username and password.
    • Review dependent eligibility requirements and beneficiary designations.

    Retired Employees

    • Review annual enrollment resources and current benefits elections.
    • Log in to the My UT Benefits portal for retired employees by entering:
      • Username: UTMBG (not case sensitive) + 6 digit employer ID + 00
        (Example: UTMBG12345600)
      • Password: Last name (first letter capitalized) + 4 digits of Social Security number
        (Example: Smith1234)
    • Review dependent eligibility requirements and beneficiary designations.

    Please Note
    The recommended web browsers for accessing the My UT Benefits portal when using a personal computer are Firefox, Google Chrome, and Microsoft Edge.

  • Friday, July 31 – Deadline for Making Benefits Elections
    • Add, drop, or waive coverage.
    • Add or remove dependents.
    • Enroll in a UT FLEX account.
    • Declare tobacco user or non-user status.
    • Enroll in or make changes to voluntary retirement plan(s).

    Please Note
    Your current benefits coverage will continue for the new plan year if no action is taken during the annual enrollment period.

    However, you must actively enroll each year if you want to participate in a UT FLEX account; elections from 2025–2026 will not roll forward.

  • Friday, Aug. 14 – Deadline for Completing Follow-Up Tasks
    • Review benefits confirmation statement within My UT Benefits portal and save or make a copy.
    • Upload evidence of eligibility (EOE), or dependent documents, if required.
    • Submit evidence of insurability (EOI) if required.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 1 – Benefits Elections Effective
    • Expect new ID cards for newly elected coverages and/or any new plans elected. 
    • Keep ID cards for plans that did not change.
  • Friday, Sept. 18 – Premiums Deducted for Biweekly Paid Employees
    • Review paycheck to ensure premiums are being accurately deducted.
  • Thursday, Oct. 1 – Premiums Deducted for Monthly Paid Employees
    • Review paycheck to ensure premiums are being accurately deducted.

Premium Rate Changes for 2026–2027

Monthly premiums for UT SELECT medical plan for full-time employees:

  • Employee Only coverage will remain a monthly total of $0.
  • Employee/Spouse coverage will increase $66.38 for a monthly total of $429.20.
  • Employee/Child(ren) coverage will increase $34.93 for a monthly total of $414.39.
  • Employee/Family coverage will increase $106.37 for a monthly total of $820.85.

Monthly premiums for UT SELECT medical plan for part-time employees: 

  • Employee Only coverage will increase $28.35 for a monthly total of $449.67.
  • Employee/Spouse coverage will increase $120.70 for a monthly total of $1,125.68.
  • Employee/Children coverage will increase $89.57 for a monthly total of $1,031.65.
  • Employee/Family coverage will increase $186.75 for a monthly total of $1,686.03.

New for 2026–2027

Preventive Care Incentive Program
Effective May 2027, employees and spouses participating in the UT SELECT medical plan can earn an exemption from a new monthly $50 standard premium differential simply by having an annual preventive exam by Feb. 28, 2027. Click here for more information about the PCIP.

Increase in UT FLEX Maximums
The annual maximum for the Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA) has increased to $3,400 for plan year 2026–2027. The annual maximum for the Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DCRA) has increased to $7,500.

Increase in ACA Out-of-Pocket Maximum
The annual ACA out-of-pocket maximum will increase to $10,600 (individual) and to $21,200 (family).

New UT Lifestyle Benefits
To help protect you and your family, you can now enroll in accident insurance, critical illness coverage, hospital indemnity coverage, legal benefits, and pet insurance.

Hello Heart Program
UT SELECT participants may be eligible for this new program to help prevent or reduce the risk of developing heart disease and other cardiovascular conditions.

Newborn Baby Benefit Change
With this change, newborns will have their own deductible, inpatient copay, and coinsurance.
