Annual Benefits Enrollment

2022–2023 Benefits Plan Year

The annual enrollment period for the 2022–2023 benefits plan year is July 15 to 31.

During this period, you may make changes to your benefits elections, add or remove dependents and/or enroll in a flexible spending account.

Key Enrollment Dates

Annual Enrollment

  • Friday, July 15 – Annual enrollment begins.

    •  Review annual enrollment resources and current benefits elections.

    •  Employees: Log in to the My UT Benefits site for employees by:
        –  Identifying UTMB as your institution.
        –  Entering your UTMB user name and password.

    •  Retired Employees: Log in to the My UT Benefits site for retired employees by entering:
        –  User name: UTMBG (not case sensitive) + 6 digit employer ID + 00
            Example: UTMBG01234500
        –  Password: Last name (first letter capitalized) + 4 digits of Social Security number
            Example: Smith1234

    •  Review dependent eligibility requirements and beneficiary designations.

  • Sunday, July 31 – Deadline for making benefits elections.

      Add or drop benefits coverage.
      Add or remove dependents.
      Enroll in UT FLEX program.
    •  Declare tobacco user or non-user status.
    •  Enroll in or make changes to voluntary retirement plan.

  • Sunday, July 31 – Deadline for completing follow-up tasks.

    •  Review benefits confirmation statement within My UT Benefits portal and save or make copy.
    •  Upload evidence of eligibility (EOE), or dependent documents, if required.
    •  Submit evidence of insurability (EOI) if required.
    •  Submit evidence of waiver (EOW) if required.

    Please be advised that processing may be delayed if EOE, EOI and EOW documents are submitted between Sunday, July 31, and Monday, Aug. 15.

  • Thursday, Sept. 1 – Benefits elections effective.

    •  You will receive new Medical ID cards.

  • Friday, Sept. 9 – Premiums deducted (Bi-weekly Employees).

    •  Review paycheck to ensure premiums are being accurately deducted.

  • Saturday, Oct. 1 – Premiums deducted (Monthly Employees).

    •  Review paycheck to ensure premiums are being accurately deducted.

Important Reminders

As you make your benefits elections, please keep in mind:

  • Your current benefits coverage (except UT FLEX elections) will continue for the new plan year if no action is taken during the annual enrollment period. Keep ID Cards for plans that did not change. Expect new ID Cards for UT SELECT™ and UT CONNECT Medical and prescription and any new plans elected.
  • If you do not want to make any changes to your current benefits coverage, it is recommended that you take a few minutes to review your elections and dependents to ensure they are correct.
  • You must actively enroll in the UT FLEX program each year; elections from 2021–2022 will not roll forward.
  • My UT Benefits may be accessed from any web-enabled device using the Safari web browser.
  • The recommended web browsers for accessing My UT Benefits when using a personal computer are Firefox, Google Chrome.

Premium Changes for 2022–2023

The monthly premiums for Blue Cross Blue Shield will increase (Full Time Employees) :

  • Employee only coverage will remain a monthly total of $0.
  • Employee/Spouse coverage will increase $20.28 for a monthly total of $290.70.
  • Employee/Children coverage will increase $21.22 for a monthly total of $304.04.
  • Employee/Family coverage will increase $39.94 for a monthly total of $572.46.

The monthly premiums for Blue Cross Blue Shield will increase (Part Time Employees): 

  • Employee only coverage will increase $23.56 for a monthly total of $337.58.
  • Employee/Spouse coverage will increase $56.18 for a monthly total of $805.22.
  • Employee/Children coverage will increase $52.68 for a monthly total of $754.84.
  • Employee/Family coverage will increase $83.80 for a monthly total of $1,201.26.

Plan Updates for 2022–2023

Group Term Life and AD&D
NEW! Basic Life and AD&D increasing to $50,000 (from $40,000). No evidence of insurability (EOI) for active employee voluntary life coverage up to 3X salary. Lower voluntary rates. Must elect voluntary coverage.

UT FLEX
NEW! Maximum to Health Care Reimbursement Account increased  to $2,850 for plan year 2022-2023. Dependent care maximum remains $5,000 per family. Must elect every year to participate.

We’re pleased to announce that your enrollment and online benefits management has gone mobile. Now you can view and update your benefits information in the palm of your hand by using the Benefitplace™ app on your phone or tablet.

With the app, you will be able to view your benefits information and account balances, update your coverage, store photos of your ID cards, and more. 

To install the app:

  1. Download the Benefitplace app, which is available from Google Plan and the Apple App Store
  2. Enter UTMBG as the company ID
  3. Log in using your UTMB username and password
