Onboarding Requirements for Contractors

Contract workforce staff are required to adhere to all UTMB IHOP policies pertaining to employees, including but not limited to the following:

Pre-Employment Drug Screening

IHOP 3.7.2 Pre-Employment Drug Screening Policy

  • 5-panel drug screens are required
  • Must be in a SAMHSA approved testing site

Criminal History Background Check

IHOP 3.2.6 Criminal Background Checks for Employment Policy

  • Minimum seven year nationwide criminal history searches
  • Terrorist Watchlists
  • Medicare Medicaid Sanctions (State and Federal OIG)
  • Sex offender check (nationwide)

Pre-Employment TB Screening

IHOP 8.1.2 Tuberculosis Surveillance Program for Healthcare Workers

  • All new healthcare employees are required to have an initial 1 Step TB screening
  • Employees having patient contact are required to have an initial 2 Step PPD and annual TB screening

Immunization of Healthcare Workers

New Employee Orientation

  • All new employees are required to attend New Employee Orientation in person or online

General Compliance Training

IHOP 3.5.4 Mandatory Education and Training for UTMB’s Workforce

  • All employees are required to complete mandatory education with the first thirty (30) days of employment
