New Employee Orientation

New Employee Orientation (NEO) provides a comprehensive introduction to UTMB’s history, mission, services and resources and helps to ensure a successful transition to the organization.

Orientation sessions are offered in a classroom setting on the first and third Monday of each month.

Orientation Details


All employees must be pre-registered and listed on the sign-in sheet to attend NEO. Registration is handled by Recruitment Services. Any questions regarding the registration process should be directed to your hiring manager or HR recruiter.

Location and Time

The location of each orientation session can vary, depending upon room availability and class size. Please check with your HR recruiter to verify the location of your scheduled session. NEO is a full day and will begin promptly at 8 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m.

Free Parking

Parking is available in Garage #4 located at 1215 Strand St. A single token will be provided when signing in to NEO to exit the garage free of charge.

Attire and Lunch

The recommended attire for NEO is business causual. You are encouraged to bring a sweater or jacket to remain comfortable with fluctuations in room temperature. Lunch will be provided

Course Objectives

Employees who attend a classroom session of NEO will receive credit for these mandatory trainings:

  • New Employee Orientation – Welcome and Overview
  • Annual Required Training – General Compliance, HIPAA and Sexual Harassment
  • Information Protection

Please be advised that registration does not guarantee credit for the courses listed above. Each training has a separate sign-in sheet to ensure you receive proper credit. All other mandatory trainings can be accessed through the university's online training system. NEO participants will also receive information on AIDET, UTMB's benefits program and employee health and wellness resources.

Where do I get my UTMB employee badge?

Time permitting, employees will have an opportunity to pick up badges during lunch or after their orientation session. The UTMB Badge Office is located in Rebecca Sealy, Room 2.712, and its hours of operation are:

  • Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday – 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
